Love & Sacrifices
At the center of the Chinese character for "love" (愛) you will find "heart" (心). In traditional Chinese culture, affection isn't widely seen because "Love is carried in the heart, not said aloud". Actions and sacrifies symbolize the heart.
She was an artist by nature
She painted the world with so much color
She spoke in poetry and metaphor
You never had the time to decipher
You thought you understood her
When you were only seeing one corner
So what’s the point in painting if no one gets the picture?
Sometimes life is like being a fish out of water. Other times it’s being a fish thrown in a chlorine filled pool. Although the environment wasn’t made for us, we’re expected to succeed, be grateful, and “look alive”

Chrysanthemums have been adored in Asia for thousands of year. Often depicted on precious porcelain and ancient works of art, they symbolize life and rebirth. This piece is a representation of carrying on that rich heritage in modern times.
The demons that haunt us come in many different shapes and forms. This is a visual representation of the crippling anxiety that once had a death grip on me. Affecting every aspect of my life, it hindered me from creating meaningful relationships, experiencing life, and most importantly, from being myself and following my dreams.
This piece was created to point out the fact that though intimidating, if you look closer, many of the demons and struggles we face stem from fear. Understanding this and being openly honest about it (to yourself at least) is the first step to overcoming them.
